Guwahati: With the arrest of Arabinda Rajkhowa, the Chairman of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), the people of Assam are in a hope to witness peace after a 30 long years of violence.

After his arrest by the Bangladeshi security agencies, Rajkhowa has express his desires to engage in the peace talks with the government.

Reacting on this Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi said that picture was not yet very clear. Addressing a press conferrence in Guwahati Gogoi said,”I am not in the dark, nor in the clear picture. I am in between.”

However journalist Sunil Nath, who was present at the peace talks held in the year 1992 between ULFA and then central government of PV Narasmiha Rao said, unless Paresh Baruah comes and gives consent anything positive can not be expected.

It is to be mention here that Paresh Barua is the Commander-in-Chief of ULFA and has shifted his base and was somewhere on the Myanmar-China border.

So the uncertainty is still on. Many in Assam are viewing the statements about Rajkhowa with skepticism. But at the same time people are looking forward to end the violence and witness peace in the state.
