Bhopal, May 17 (IANS) Aiming to double its customer base within a year, the Madhya Pradesh Circle of the state-run telecom giant Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) announced sops for its customers Wednesday, the World Telecom day.
While it launched the Ladli Beti scheme to encourage use of cell phones by girls, it also announced to provide pre-paid mobile connections free of cost on every landline or WLL connection booked.
Madhya Pradesh Telecom Circle chief general manager R.K.P. Hinduja said that under the Ladli Beti scheme every female applicant taking a pre-paid mobile connection from BSNL in a month’s time from now would receive a gift of a top-up voucher worth Rs.112.
“Besides, landline and WLL connection seekers will also be provided a free pre-paid mobile connection and several other concessions during the month,” he told reporters here.
“Landline and WLL connections will be available in urban and rural areas for only Rs.100 under the Double Dhamaka Scheme opened today and this amount will be construed as installation charge. Prepaid mobile connection will also be provided free of cost with every landline or WLL connection”, he added.
On improving the mobile connectivity in the circle, he said: “The number of towers are being increased from 1,100 to 2,300. Of these, 985 towers will be set up in rural areas under a central scheme.”
The BSNL also aims to double its landline, mobile and WLL connections in the circle from the current figure of 1.8 million to 3.6 million in a year.
