Hyderabad: With a vow to fight for the united Andhra Pradesh and support for all the leaders who are protesting hard for the same, Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi today resigned from the state assembly as an MLA.

Announcing about his resignation at a crowed press conference at the PRP headquarters he said, “In deference to the wishes of majority of the people, the PRP will henceforth stand for a unified Andhra Pradesh. We shall bring required pressure on powers that be to ensure that the state stays united.”
The PRP chief put the signature on his resignation letter in front of the media and said it would be forwarded to Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy later in the day by one of his MLAs.
Many leaders including Congress MP L Rajagopal who has been holding fast-unto-death in Vijayawada, have appreciated Chiranjeevi’s decision and said popular film actor Junior NTR to give his support of a united Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, TDP legislator D Umamaheswar Rao who is in the indefinite hunger strike along with other party leaders entered the fifth day today. According to the sources the leaders locked themselves up in a government guest house when police tried to shift them to the hospital.
