Wolfram Alpha- a computational knowledge engine will be launched in this month. Many belive that this is a search engine and they dubbed it as the Google Killer, but this is just not the case as you can’t compare a Hummer with a Ferrari – they’re not in the same category. Well, Wolfram Alpha will be one of a kind until Google launches Squared. What is Google Squared? It’s the Wolfram|Alpha Killer. These two computational knowledge engines are the next generation in searching as it will provide you the answers you were always looking for.
Google Squared will provide answers from a well-structured database, and it will present you the answers in a categorized way as you will see from the pictures. The volume of information on the Web is growing and some said that the end of keyword searching is near therefore we need something better and this where the latest project from the Google Labs comes to rescue us.
Google Squared will be launched later this month in the Google Labs, and it will extract information from the Internet
, and then it will show results in a online spreadsheet-format. This means that Squared extracts unorganized data from the Web and it returns it very structured. You can see in the picture that if you search for “small dogs” then it will return information in a spreadsheet format with names, a brief description, and many other information.
What Google Squared does is very difficult to do. In order to provide such structured results you need a lot of work and computing power, and it will be hard for Wolfram Alpha do compete against that. Squared could have a lot of implications in someone’s life as it can provide health information, scientific data, information from a targeted product, and many others. The difference between the two is that Wolfram|Alpha is based on its own database, while Google Squared gathers data from the entire Web.
Google Searchology took place yesterday and I have to say that it took place at exactly the right time. Just before Wolfram Alpha’s launch. Square will provide the Google search options and tools, and it will definitely revolutionize the way we search for something. I will stop praising Squared at least until both Wolfram|Alpha and Google’s new search tool are out. We will see both of them by the end of the month.
