On Monday, Himachal Pradesh government has cleared 14 new proposals for setting up of Industrial units having an investment of Rs.233.36 crore approximately. The govt. also at the same time, ordered withdrawal of sanction from 126 others.
The proposals cleared included pharmaceutical companies and multi-nationals. M/s Proctor and Gamble’s proposal to set up a Rs 32-crore unit for manufacture of skincare products at Baddi was among those cleared.
The sanctions were withdrawn because their promoters could not succeed in showing any progress with the projects. These decisions were taken at a meeting of the state-level single-window authority headed by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.
About 31 proposals in all were submitted for govt.’s approval but out of them only 14 got cleared. Promoters were also strictly advised to take steps for installation of pollution control and effluent treatment facilities to the satisfaction of the State Pollution Control Board.
The industrial units that are being set up to encash upon the incentives or are not environment friendly would not be allowed by the govt., clrafified the meeting panel.
