New Delhi: The online CAT 2009 was a disaster and a major setback for the aspirants as well as for those who conducted it.

Few IIMs are of the opinion to scrap the test. However, the institutes will also decide whether a fresh exam of all those candidates who were unable to take the test during the 11-day period, be taken in the traditional pen-and-paper method or follow the online system.
There were 2.41 lakh candidates who were to take the test initially, but there were too many glitches. There were over 20,000 candidates who could not take the test across the country and many more complaining of problems they faced while taking the test.
This was the first ever computer-based entrance test conducted by the IIMs with more than two lakh MBA aspirants appearing for it.
A crucial meeting will be held on Wednesday by directors of all seven IIMs (The Indian Institutes of Management whether to validate the results of the recently conducted online Common Admission Test (CAT) or not.
