This has been done in response to widespread rumors of air attack on Indian positions. The level of readiness has been raised to ‘Passive Air Defence’ (PAD).

The alert has been announced following the intelligence reports of possible aerial attack by terrorists groups based in Pakistan or air strikes at Indian installations from across the border. It is however, defensive in nature and aimed at protecting Indian targets.

All IAF aircrafts are ready to take off within minutes and have been armed with bombs and missiles. Western Naval Fleet is also patrolling their warships aggressively on Arabian Sea.

Army, however, is still not on the level of high alert and has not been positioned on borders till now.
