Kiran Reddy elected as Speaker for AP assembly

andhra pradesh Kiran Reddy elected as Speaker for AP assemblySenior Congress legislator N Kiran Kumar Reddy has been commonly elected as Speaker of the 13th Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Thursday.

Reddy was declared elected unopposed by the Protem Speaker J C Diwakar Reddy.

Reddy’s name for the Speaker’s post was proposed by state Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, Prajarajyam Chief Chiranjeevi, Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy, AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi and two other independents.

Soon after his election, Reddy was escorted to his Chair by the Chief Minister, Chiranjeevi, Lok Satha legislator Jaiprakash Narain and Owaisi but no legislator from the TDP, which feels that Reddy as chief whip in the previous assembly was hostile.
