Handsome leading man Patrick Dempsey, a.k.a. “Dr. McDreamy” in television drama “Grey’s Anatomy,” was named as People magazine’s “Star Of The Year” on Thursday after a stellar year, off and on screen. Dempsey, 41, who also plays the lovable but lonely attorney in the hit Disney movie “Enchanted,” is featured on the cover of the celebrity magazine’s year-end issue that focuses on the best — and the worst — of the year. This year Dempsey made his mark in the celebrity media with his hit TV show, box office smash and the birth of twin boys Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick to his second wife.
“I’m just enjoying life more than I ever have … I’m trying to enjoy the moment while it’s here and to be able to provide for my family so that I can step away and enjoy raising them away from all this,” Dempsey told the magazine.
People also paid tribute to eight other stars whose careers skyrocketed in 2007.
