New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS) President Pratibha Patil, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee joined the nation Monday in congratulating Chandigarh boy Abhinav Bindra, who shot into history when he won a gold medal for the 10-metre rifle event at the Beijing Olympics.
Bindra has got India its first individual gold medal in the Olympics. He won by scoring 700.5 points, 596 in the qualifier and 104.5 in the final to claim the gold.
