Accusing the BJP of raking up the issue of black money to hide its own shortcomings at the time of elections, the Congress asked the saffron party to provide all details it had about the money stashed in tax havens abroad by the Indians to the President.
BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani, who had raised the issue, should submit an affidavit to the President giving all details he had about the money lying in Swiss banks, Congress leader and Union Minister Anand Sharma said.
“Whatever facts he (Advani) has, he should reveal. He should give an affidavit to the President giving all the details,” Sharma told a press conference at Chandigarh on Thursday.
He said his party wanted to know from where the BJP stalwart had arrived at the figure of black money stashed in Swiss banks.
Sharma said the BJP had raked up the issue at the time of elections to hide its own shortcomings and to divert people’s attention from real issues confronting them.
“The BJP knows that Congress is on a strong wicket and will again come to power after the Lok Sabha elections. The party is raking up the issue to hide its own shortcomgings,” he said.
