
LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government has claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s security was well enough to protect him and there was no laxity on the part of the administration
Breaking the silence over the security issue of Rahul Gandhi, secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh said “There was absolutely to laxity on the part of the district administration of Kanpur in security arrangements for Rahul Gandhi during his visit to Kanpur.
All norms laid down for an SPG cover were strictly adhered to,” he added in a press conference here. Strongly refuting the media reports that a letter from the Union home ministry was received by the state government regarding laxity in security to to Rahul Gandhi, the cabinet secretary said, “I can only say that it was figment of imagination as no such letter was received from the Centre.”
He said that immediately after talking to these Central government officials, the DGP ordered an inquiry.
The report of the inquiry was received by the principal secretary, home on Sunday. “It has been categorically mentioned that all norms related to security of a SPG protectee were strictly adhered to.
And on the basis of that a letter has been sent by the principal secretary, home, Kunwar Fateh Bahadur to the Union home secretary,” said the cabinet secretary
