Gandhinagar: After seeking permission for demonstration outside the collectorate office in Gandhinagar, the supporters of Asaram Bapu got violent and starting pelting thrones at the officials.

To push back and control the irated mob, police had to resort to teargas shells.

Officials said the permission to hold a demonstration to protest the alleged harassment of sadhaks by police officials had clearly stated that only four people could assemble at the place.

But the situation went out of control when more than 100 people gathered outside the collectorate and tried to force their way into the building.

More than 200 supporters of Asaram were arrested.
