Indian Government has shown concern for the Tamil Population of the friend country.
New Delhi: A Sri Lankan envoy has reached to New Delhi to talk over Tamil issue with the Government of India.
Amid growing concern in India about the military action in Sri Lanka, the Lankan presidential adviser Basil Rajapaksa arrived in New Delhi on Saturday primarily to assure the Indian Government about the steps taken to safeguard Tamils trapped in the war zone.
Rajapaksa will hold talks with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday. He will also meet National Security Adviser M K Narayanan and Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon.

The Lankan envoy is likely to call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also. Sources say India is likely to reiterate its position that Sri Lanka should shun a military solution and respect the legitimate rights of the minorities, the Tamils included.
