The WS80: waterproof, colorful camera by Pentax

It has only been a few weeks that Pentax had thrown W80 Compact into the markets and now the photography giant has announced the WS80.
The difference between the two models is that the new one has a more colorful body, lesser features and a lower price.

The waterproof feature in this camera is useful as it will allow you to take pictures up to 1.5m down the water level but the W80 can take pictures 5m down the water so the new one is certainly not a deal breaker. But still it can become your ideal beach friend as it is capable of withstanding dust and sand.

WS 80 is a 10 mega pixel cam with 5x optical zoom, a large 2.7 inch LCD and the option to take HD video up to 720p at 30fps in a 16:9 ratio.

Other features include Face Detection, Smile Capture (if you can find a smiling fish), Shake Reduction, Blink Detection and a lot of auto settings, plus a few filters if you like creativity.

To be out in the markets around September, the WS80 will be priced around £209.
